Whirlwind

I had yesterday off for Veteran’s Day; thank you to everyone who made it possible for me to live in a country that has days off! It was also my grandfather’s 90th birthday (and he is a WWII veteran, so a double holiday for him). I found the perfect card within 30 seconds of walking into the store. That never happens, and I do mean perfect, not “Good enough that I can take that rather than having to shop longer.”

I worked a much longer day on my day off than I do on days I work – about 12 hours of running around, doing stuff to get ready for FFF, managing my business. If you click on that link, you’ll notice the business is closed right now. Nothing is wrong; I just want to have time to get ready for FFF, and then for Thanksgiving. I also want to do some inventory management and add some new things to the catalog, and I need a bit of time to get that all under control. I love you all for ordering supplies from me, but when I’m busy filling orders I don’t have time to add and improve things. (And no, I’m most definitely not complaining about having too many orders!) Everything will be back up by December 1.

Tonight, Nick and I are going to have dinner somewhere yummy, then go to see Blue Oyster Cult at the renovated State Theatre. Yes, BOC is still alive and touring, much to Nick’s delight.

And finally, I’m still doing National Novel Writing Month, a definite contributor to the lack of content here. I’m behind on the whole 50,000 word thing, but I have written at least a few hundred words of fiction every day, and thus am coming ever closer to having a complete first draft. That’s my true goal; the NaNo framework is to provide peer pressure.

I wish I could attend FFF this year! If only I had a teleporter…

Glad that you’re still writing for NaNo; hopefully the fiction production habit will continue.
