The Shire of Nithgaard will host its fifth annual textile symposium on the weekend of November 16-18, at the Sieg Conference Center located on Narrows Road in Lamar, PA (no street address). Saturday the 17th will be a day of classes and workshops devoted to fabric, string, and their glorious arts. Melee and tournament combat engagements in a medieval style will be organized by Thorvaaldr Frirsverth. Head cook Aurora Nicola will be providing a Mongolian feast. The site opens at 2PM on Friday, and closes at noon on Sunday. This site is dry.
We invite all attending to bring relevant books from their personal libraries to contribute to an event reference library. The library will be staffed, and books will not leave the library area. There will be an open display, as well as opportunities to discuss objects and documentation. We will also be holding a silent auction to defray costs for out-of-Kingdom teachers - donations are welcome!
The adult weekend fee of $12 ($8 for those under 18) includes a light meal on Friday evening, breakfast and lunch on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday. The adult day fee of $7 ($4 for those under 18) includes breakfast and lunch on Saturday. The feast will be an additional $8 ($7 for those under 18, free for those under 5). A $3 non-member surcharge will be collected.
Limited bunk space is available onsite for those staying the weekend. On-board reservations will receive first consideration for on-site sleeping accommodations (48 bunk spaces available, in two 24-bed dormitory rooms). All guests will need to provide their own bedding, but mattresses are provided by the site. Be warned, these are bunk beds. There is a hotel within a few miles, and this is NOT a Penn State football weekend. Parking is extremely limited at the Sieg Center. There is no room for oversize vehicles, and we urge everyone to carpool as much as possible.
