My office is boring, but no more so than expected. I’m the only Halloween-inspired person in the building, with my Mistress of Skulls shirt and string of bone skull beads.<\/p>\n

I have a pumpkin on my desk, and Carrothulu<\/a> is supervising.<\/p>\n

This weekend the pumpkin will become food, so no carving.<\/p>\n

In other random news, I have a heat press as of Wednesday night. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet, but will be doing stuff this weekend.<\/p>\n

It’s a MightyPress Lite, and looked like a good compromise between quality and price for light duty\/small business use. I got it from Specialty Graphics<\/a>, who after an initial miscommunication were very good, and fast<\/i>. I wasn’t sure I’d have the press by the weekend, and it showed up Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Random bits: The nice man at the school crossing stopped traffic for me earlier this week. I grew up in a rural area with school buses, so this was a novel experience. <\/p>\n

During a class on remote sensing data, the teaching assistant asked if I was doing this kind of work for my PhD project. She seemed a bit surprised when I told her no, but I was looking for a post-doc to hire to do that.<\/p>\n

I’m doing NaNoWriMo<\/a> again this year, so blogging may be put aside in favor of fiction. Instead of writing 50,000 words of new fiction, though, I’m going to tackle an unfinished novel that needs about that much to finish it.
