I\u2019ve been thinking about tablet weaving for a looooong time. I have a pretty good grasp of theory and practice, but if I’m going to write a book that makes sense, I have to have an extremely good grasp of same. Not only that, I have to have terminology that is clear and consistent, especially where “regular” weaving terminology is inadequate.<\/p>\n
So I’ve been thinking harder, sketching, making samples, and repeat. Being me, I’ve also written some software to draw the diagrams I need for this project. I’ll share it eventually, once I’m happy with the feature set and results. <\/p>\n
Terminology differences have led to so much confusion<\/em> among novice and even experienced weavers. It’s not that I think I can solve all the tablet-weaving world’s problems, but I do think I can teach people how to solve their own problems. As long as I can get this right!<\/p>\n That isn’t entirely how I’d intended to spend my week. Many months ago I put in for a week and a half of leave for Pennsic. We decided not to go, for reasons of weather, infrastructure, elderly dog, and so on, but I kept the leave time. I had plans to do a bunch of house projects and yard projects, but it’s been too hot, and now too wet. I’ve been puttering on a bunch of things, a bit at a time, as the mood strikes and the weather allows. I’ve made progress on everything except cleaning my studio, if not as much as I’d hoped. Clearly I need at least another whole week off!<\/p>\n
