Then I looked at the weather: 0F. Back into bed I went. An hour later, when I asked Trygvi whether he wanted to go outside and pee on things, he just looked at me from the comfort of the couch. &#8220;Mom, are you kidding? I was out in the middle of the night. It was cold. Mom, you know I don&#8217;t have any fur.&#8221; Spoiled boy that he is, I let him get away with it.<\/p>\n<p>This kind of weather requires hand-knits! These are the long-delayed <a href=\"https:\/\/allbuttonedup.wordpress.com\/2007\/06\/23\/ninetofive\/\">9 to 5 socks<\/a>, tweaked to be symmetrical rather than identical in the twist direction, in yarn I dyed. They sat around for months with all but the toe grafting completed, then I misplaced them. But they&#8217;re wonderful none-the-less!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stringpage.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/photo-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/stringpage.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/photo-1-251x300.jpg\" alt=\"9 to 5 socks\" width=\"251\" height=\"300\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1369\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stringpage.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/photo-1-251x300.jpg 251w, https:\/\/stringpage.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/photo-1-858x1024.jpg 858w, https:\/\/stringpage.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/photo-1.jpg 924w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 251px) 100vw, 251px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And then there&#8217;s this brilliant piece of knitting.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stringpage.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/photo-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/stringpage.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/photo-2-205x300.jpg\" alt=\"alpaca hat\" width=\"205\" height=\"300\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1370\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stringpage.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/photo-2-205x300.jpg 205w, https:\/\/stringpage.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/photo-2.jpg 407w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 205px) 100vw, 205px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It is a knitted and felted alpaca hat from the farmer&#8217;s market near my mother, made by the woman who raises the alpacas I believe. Is that not amazing? I had trouble taking a selfie with both the antennae and the dangly tassels, so I went with the antennae. Of course. I admit I was skeptical when I opened the box, but it&#8217;s absolutely wonderful.<\/p>\n<p>Changing gears <em>entirely<\/em>, or as close as you can get within fiber arts, go look at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.midorisnyder.com\/the_labyrinth\/2014\/02\/mythic-needlework-and-fantasy-dresses.html\">this embroidered dress<\/a> on Midori Snyder&#8217;s blog: a hand-embroidered version of the 1526 &#8220;Adam and Eve&#8221; by Lucas Cranach.
