Stringpage Supplies is devoted to all the other fiber arts. There are zillions of sites devoted to knitting, and plenty of places for the loom weaver to find yarn by the cone, but what about the braider, the tablet weaver, the inkle weaver? We feature high-quality yarns in small quantities - the silk, linen, wool and cotton that you've been looking for, and the equipment you need. (Yarn that comes ready for continuous-warp tablet weaving, anyone?) There will be tools and toys for naalbinding, sprang, and more!
I'm sure there are some rough edges, but I think we've got it! Stringpage Supplies has a rapidly-growing stock of hand-dyed yarns - the silk, wool, linen and cotton you've been looking for. Please, come in, take a look. We think you'll find just what you need right here. Yarns are put up on 100-yard bobbins to make it easy to warp or measure from them (even continuous-warp tablet weaving).
All of our yarns (except the linen) are hand-dyed with acid dyes or fiber reactive dyes as appropriate. We plan to add a line of plant-dyed yarns in mid-2008. Some irregularity in the color within a skein is part of the process. Some colors may bleed a bit if washed in hot water. We try very hard to make sure this won't happen, but please be careful with the dyed items, and wash in cold if necessary.
The color selection will be a bit idiosyncratic as we build up the stock. A basic palette - white, yellow, red, blue, green, purple, black - should always be available in every yarn we carry. Other colors will be available as the mood strikes. If you are looking for a particular color, please contact us. We're always happy to custom-dye anything.
