The Shire of Nithgaard will host the third textile symposium on the weekend of November 18-20, at the Sieg Conference Center located on Narrows Road in Lamar, PA (no street address). Saturday the 19th will be a day of classes and workshops devoted to fabric, string, and their glorious arts, and melee and tournament combat engagements in a period style will be organized by Thorvaaldr Frirsverth. The site opens at 2PM on Friday the 18th, and closes at 1PM on Sunday.
We invite all attending to bring relevant books from their personal libraries to contribute to an event reference library. The library will be staffed, and books will not leave the library area. There will be an open display, as well as opportunities to discuss objects and documentation. We will also be holding a silent auction to defray costs for out-of-Kingdom teachers - donations are welcome!
The adult on-board fee of $17 ($13 for those under 18) includes Saturday brunch, and dinner, as well as breakfast Sunday morning. Off-board reservations are $10 per person ($6 for those under 18), and includes brunch on Saturday, and Sunday breakfast. The day trip fee for Saturday is $5 for adults and $2 for minors. A $3 surcharge for those without current membership cards will be collected at the door. Reservations postmarked after November 11th and at the door are $20 for On-Board and $13 for Off-Board (no change for day trippers), so please get your reservations in early!
On-board reservations will receive first consideration for on-site sleeping accommodations (48 bunk spaces available, in two 24-bed dormitory rooms). All guests will need to provide their own bedding, but mattresses are provided by the site. Be warned, these are bunk beds.
There is a Comfort Inn in Lamar, just 2 miles from the site, for those who aren't interested in bunk beds. Happily, it is NOT a Penn State home game, so it might be possible to get a room.
Parking is extremely limited at the Sieg Center. There is no room for oversize vehicles, and we urge everyone to carpool as much as possible.
